About Me…

Welcome! My name is Lindsay and my passion for pregnancy and labour began when I was 19 as I had the privilege of witnessing my sister give birth to my nephew. I now have four children of my own with varying birth experiences and have had a wonderful doula (Margaret) by my side for our last two babies. Having this support system was invaluable for me and my family. I am so thankful for my village and now I want to support you.

In addition to my personal experiences, I have a Masters degree in Social Work and I am certifying to be a Birth and Postpartum Doula with Bebo Mia. I am also a certifying to be an Infant Sleep Educator with Bebo Mia. In addition to this, I am a trained Social Worker with experience working with families and children. I have also been trained in grief, loss, birth trauma and postpartum mental health through Canadian Perinatal Mental Health Trainings.

Alongside my experience and skill set, I am a passionate and intuitive caregiver, and I believe strongly that I can provide a calm and nurturing experience for you. I am committed to providing professional, non-judgmental support and evidence-based information.

“However much we know about birth in general, we know nothing about a particular birth. We must let it unfold with its own uniqueness.”

A little bit about my services…

Birth Support

I am grateful for every birth I witness. By supporting you and your partner (when applicable) you will be able to fully bring your mind to your birthing experience and to connect with your inner power. Whether you are planning a home birth, medicated or non medicated hospital birth, a spontaneous labour or a planned surgical birth I am here to support you and your family. There are many benefits to having a birth doula. Here are some below from a study conducted by Bohren et al. in 2017:
• 25% decrease in the risk of Cesarean; the largest effect was seen with a doula (39% decrease)
• 8% increase in the likelihood of a spontaneous vaginal birth; the largest effect was seen with a doula (15% increase)
• 38% decrease in the baby’s risk of a low five minute Apgar score; there is no data on if the type of person providing continuous support makes a difference
• 31% decrease in the risk of being dissatisfied with the birth experience; mothers’ risk of being dissatisfied with the birth experience was reduced with continuous support provided by a doula or someone in their social network (family or friend), but not hospital staff.

Postpartum

With an open mind, an inclusive stance and a calming presence I am here to support you through your unique postpartum journey. After your baby is born and you’re home recovering, a postpartum doula is there to take care of you so you can take care of your baby and your family.

Sleep Education & Support

Are you expecting and what to ensure you know all the ins and outs of infant sleep? Or if your little one has been born and you need some sleep support, I am here for you.

I provide sleep support that is based on infant biological and development norms and considers the whole family.

I rely on the latest research in neuroscience, psychology and safe sleep practices to create a customized sleep plan that works for you and your little one.

Every family is unique, which is why I focus on creating a plan that doesn't just address your baby's sleep, but also considers the mental health and well-being of each family member.

During infancy, the foundation for your baby’s mental health is built. Therefore my approach prioritizes your baby's emotional well-being and fosters secure attachment.  I'll never make any suggestions that rely on sleep training methods or infant behaviour modification.
